Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree from a recognized university, with at least a second division. This academic requirement ensures that applicants have the necessary foundation to excel in administrative roles.

Age Limit

The age range for candidates is 21 to 30 years as of 1st January 2024. However, certain exceptions apply:

• Applicants serving in federal or provincial government roles with a minimum of 4 years of service may be eligible up to the age of 35 years.
• Special persons are granted a maximum relaxation of 15 years in the upper age limit as per Punjab Civil Servants Recruitment Rules.

Domicile and Gender

Candidates of all genders, including male, female, and transgender, who hold Punjab domicile are eligible to apply. This inclusive approach ensures equal opportunities for all segments of society.

Examination Process

Written Examination

The examination is conducted simultaneously across multiple cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, Faisalabad, and Sargodha. The written test comprises 6 papers totaling 600 marks, covering compulsory and optional subjects.

Compulsory Subjects

1. English Essay: Assessing candidates’ writing skills and expression.
2. English (Precis, Comprehension, and Translation): Evaluating comprehension and language proficiency.
3. Urdu (Essay, Precis, Comprehension, and Translation): Testing proficiency in the national language.
4. Islamic Studies/Ethics: For non-Muslim candidates, offering the choice between Islamic Studies or Ethics.
5. Pakistan Studies: Covering the history, culture, and geography of Pakistan.
6. General Knowledge: Objective assessment of candidates’ awareness and understanding.

Optional Subjects

Candidates are required to choose 3 optional subjects, one from each group (A to G), each carrying 100 marks. The syllabus for optional subjects is available on the PPSC website.

NOTE: Syllabus for the Optional Subjects is available on PPSC Website ii) The minimum standard for the question papers will be of Graduate Level.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
a) Acandidate shall have to obtain 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate i.e. 600 marks to qualify for interview. Thereafter, a candidate shall also secure 50% marks in the interview to be held
eligible for final merit list of successful candidates.
b) No change/addition/deletion/alteration of optional subjects mentioned at the time of submission of online application form will be made and no further representation will be entertained.
c) Incomplete/wrongly filled optional subjects in the online application forms will be finally rejected. No further representation on this issue will be entertained.
d) Change in the priority/selection of examination centres shall not be allowed.
e) If a request of variation in number of post(s) is received at any stage, it shall be accepted by the Commission without inviting fresh applications. The variation in number of post(s) will be reflected at PPSC’s
website as a notice only.

Psychological Assessment and Interview

Successful candidates in the written examination proceed to the psychological assessment and interview stage, which carries 200 marks. This phase evaluates candidates’ psychological suitability and communication skills for administrative roles.

Important Instructions

• Negative marking applies to the objective (MCQ) paper of General Knowledge, with 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
• Non-Muslim candidates have the option to choose between Islamic Studies and Ethics.
• Candidates must secure 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks overall to qualify for the interview phase.
• Any changes or errors in the optional subjects selected during the application process are not entertained, emphasizing the importance of careful consideration during submission.
• The examination centers cannot be altered once selected, ensuring logistical efficiency in the examination process.
